Privacy Policy

Your account. When you sign up we collect your email address and a password. Sign-in is run by our database provider, Supabase, which stores your password only in scrambled (hashed) form; we never see it. If you turn on two-factor login, Supabase stores the authenticator factor needed to check your codes.

Your profile. A display name (you choose it; by default it is the first part of your email address), and if you add them, your zip code and the districts we matched it to, so My Officials can show your officials when you return. We save your street address only if you tick the box asking us to remember it.

Messages to officials. When you contact an official through Christian Vote USA we keep a record in your history: who you contacted, the bill and position (if any), the method (email, web form or phone), and for email, the subject and text of your message and whether it was delivered.

Your activity. Bills, officials or organizations you follow, the lessons you complete and your quiz scores, and any corrections or missing officials you suggest.

Membership. If you become a member, Stripe collects your payment details. We receive and store your Stripe customer ID, which plan you are on, your subscription status and renewal dates. We do not receive your full card number.

Shop orders. When you buy from our shop, you check out on Shopify's hosted checkout, which collects your name, email, shipping address and payment details. Shopify and Printful (which prints and ships the order) keep the order record. Shop orders are not linked to your Christian Vote USA account, and we do not send your account details to Shopify.

Email you send us. If you write to us, we keep your message and our reply so we can help you and follow up.

• Hosting logs. Our host, Vercel, records basic technical details of each request, such as IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. These logs help us keep the site running and secure and are kept for a limited time.
• Sign-in security records. Supabase keeps records of sign-ins and account changes, which can include IP address and time, to protect your account.
• Abuse limits. To stop automated misuse of the address lookup, we briefly count requests by IP address in server memory. These counts are not saved to our database.
• Shop requests. When you browse the shop or use the cart, our server passes your IP address to Shopify so it can block bots and fraud. Shop pages also load product images directly from Shopify's servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when they do.

To find your districts, we look up zip codes in our own database. If you enter a street address, we send it to the U.S. Census Bureau's free geocoder to find the matching districts. We do not store the address unless you are signed in and tick the box asking us to remember it. See the Census Bureau's privacy policy.

On our own pages we use cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember your shop cart. If you never sign in, the sign-in cookies are not needed. When you add something to your cart, we set one cookie, cvusa_cart, that holds your Shopify cart ID for 30 days. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies on our own pages, and we do not place advertising pixels on them.

When you pay for a membership, you are taken to a Stripe checkout page, and when you pay for a shop order, you are taken to Shopify's checkout. Each uses its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. If we ever add analytics or advertising measurement tools to our own pages, we will update this policy before doing so.

• To run your account and show you your officials, followed items, history and course progress.
• To deliver messages you choose to send to officials.
• To process memberships and send receipts and billing notices.
• To run the shop cart and have shop orders made, shipped and supported.
• To send member updates by email, if you are a member.
• To answer your questions and act on corrections and suggestions.
• To keep the site secure, prevent abuse and meet our legal obligations.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles.

Officials you contact. When you email an official through Christian Vote USA, the official receives your message, your display name and your email address, so they can reply directly to you. We are not copied on their replies. Keep in mind that government offices may keep messages they receive and may be required to release them under public-records laws.

Service providers that run parts of the site for us, and only for that purpose:

• Supabase: database and sign-in (privacy policy)
• Vercel: website hosting (privacy policy)
• Resend: delivers the emails you send to officials and other site email (privacy policy)
• Stripe: membership payments (privacy policy)
• Shopify: runs our shop's product list, cart and checkout. It receives your IP address on shop requests and, at checkout, your name, email, shipping address and payment details, and sends order emails (privacy policy)
• Printful: prints and ships shop orders. It receives the items ordered and your name and shipping details (privacy policy)
• U.S. Census Bureau: street-address geocoding, described above
• Anthropic: we use Anthropic's Claude AI to help draft bill summaries and analysis, and plan to use it for future in-depth reports. We send it public bill text and reference material only, never your account details or personal information (privacy policy)

Legal reasons. We may share information if the law requires it, such as a valid subpoena or court order, or to protect the safety of people or the security of the site.

If the business changes hands. If Christian Vote USA is sold or reorganized, your information may move to the new owner, who must keep honoring this policy or tell you about changes first.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers, campaigns, parties or data brokers.

• Account, profile, follows, course progress and contact history: for as long as you have an account.
• Billing records: payment and invoice records stay in our Stripe account for as long as tax and accounting laws require, even after you cancel or delete your Christian Vote USA account.
• Shop order records: kept in our Shopify and Printful accounts for as long as needed for returns, support, and tax and accounting laws.
• Hosting and security logs: for the limited periods our providers keep them.
• Emails you send us: as long as needed to help you, then deleted in routine cleanup.

Deleted data may remain in our database provider's backups for a short time until those backups expire.

• Change your display name or zip code, unfollow items and manage two-factor login from your account. Changing your zip code also clears a saved street address.
• Leave the “remember my address” box unticked to keep your street address off our servers.
• Manage or cancel your membership from Account → Membership & billing.
• Turn member update emails on or off at any time from Account → Membership & billing. Every member update also includes a way to unsubscribe.
• To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account and everything tied to it, email kylecvusa@gmail.com from the address on your account. We will confirm the request and aim to complete it within 30 days.

Deleting your account removes your profile, saved address, follows, course progress and contact history. It cannot recall messages already delivered to officials. Shop order records are kept separately in Shopify and Printful and are not removed when you delete your account; email kylecvusa@gmail.com if you have a request about an order.

The site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Database rules restrict each account holder to their own records, and staff tools require two-factor login. Only the site owner and staff he authorizes can access account information, and only to run the site and help account holders. No system is perfectly secure, so we also encourage you to use a strong, unique password and turn on two-factor login.

Christian Vote USA is not for children under 13, and they may not create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, email kylecvusa@gmail.com and we will delete it.

Christian Vote USA is run from the United States for people in the United States. Our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries.

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here with a new effective date. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will notify account holders by email before it takes effect.
